Accent and Speaking Class at Gr’s Course

Well, maybe some of you have a high curiosity how about this Accent and Speaking Class at Gr’s Course. If you are looking for the difference between British and American accents, you can start from this course.

As I got some positive feedback from my teacher about my pronunciation level and it did not represent my level at the same time, therefore, I went for this course to sharpen my pronunciation. Just only charged Rp45000 (forty-five thousand rupiahs) for roughly 2 months. As others which I wrote in section Writing Class at Gr’s Course, the system is similar, however, might you are wondering how the learning system is. Yes, of course, I am going to show you how WhatsApp group and Google Classroom link together during our class and I got a great experience.

So, after you register yourself and pay the fee, you will be invited to the WhatsApp group as a place to coordinate everything, such as materials, deadline, and so on. The tutor will record his pronunciation by himself and will be uploaded on Google Classroom each week according to the theme in a week. Every week will have a different theme, such as how to use ‘Glottal T’ and others. The difficulty I found at that time was to sensitively hear his recording because sometimes I did not realized a bit difference between what he was trying to say, to exemplify, the difference between saying three using British and American accent (as you know, the difference only the emphasized of ‘h’) and other little problem. Instead of some boundaries, I enjoyed the whole class as long as you also try to surf the internet to make it clear or get clear pronunciation for some parts.

In terms of assignment, every week we will be given a task about what the material we get at the same time. As for how the tutor gives us an explanation to enlighten the pronunciation, we also record our speaking or accent on our own based on what kind of words we have to say in a different accent. You could record by using either phone or laptop device, then, upload it to Google Classroom with your name as a recording title. To exemplify, I had to carefully hear the ‘Glottal T’ recording which was uploaded on Google Classroom, then, download the task. According to the task, I had to record to say ‘Better’ using Glottal T and not and I uploaded it before the deadline. Oh, another trouble because Accent and Speaking are not tangible or I can say ‘abstract’, so we could not get the feedback or point directly at the same time. Yet, we would get the final result at the end of the course. Might it becomes a trouble for some reasons as we do not know how stronger our pronunciation using American and British since measured by our recording only.

On the other hand, I could understand a bit about both pronunciation background, such as what parts of English people who are using ‘Glottal T’ and etc. Moreover, I can get the difference between both pronunciations while hearing an English recording on Youtube channel.
